In Japan, at the age of 117 years, passed away Nabi Tajima. The Japanese was the oldest inhabitant of the planet, recognized by Guinness World Records.

The Japanese woman died from old age, Reuters reports. The last three months of her life centenarian stayed in the hospital without getting out of bed.

Nabi Tajima, a resident of the island of Kikai, was born on August 4, 1900 and lived 117 years 8 months and 17 days. She left 160 descendants after herself. She called a good night sleep and dancing under the shamisen as the secret of her longevity. By the way, a shamisen is a Japanese analogue of the Russian lute.

Since September 15, 2017, Tajima was officially the oldest person in the world. Prior to it, the rating was led by Violet Brown from Jamaica, who passed away at the age of 117 years 6 months and 5 days.

Furthermore, three days before the death of the Japanese woman, a 121-year-old man died in Chile. He fell off the bed and broke three ribs. Selino Jaramilo was born on July 25, 1896, but Guinness World Records refused his registration because of his birth certificate had been lost.

Now the oldest person and woman in the world is officially another Japanese Tie Miyako. She was born on May 2, 1901.

Meanwhile the official documented record belongs to the Frenchwoman Jeanne Kalman – she passed away on August 4, 1997. The French lived 122 years 7 months and 14 days. However, experts of Guinness World Records are checking now the documents of an old Russian man. The inhabitant of Ingushetia Appaz Iliev, as follows from his documents, was born on March 1, 1896, having recently celebrated his 122nd birthday.
